ASTRON - European news - 09 May 2005
A family affair!ASTRON has built its seventh project in two years for its parent company, the Parker Hannifin Group. Parker Hannifin is believed to be the world's leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems. ASTRON, together with its Builder Rostek & Pesch GmbH & Co. KG, conceived a modern, efficient, multi-storey complex that made imaginative use of its internal space and volumes. Its orientation on the site, the use as far as possible of natural light, coupled with an all day air conditioning system, have created an efficient and pleasant working atmosphere. The complex is used by Parker Hannifin personnel responsible for the distribution of the company’s pneumatics products. It consists, basically, of two multi-storey buildings with a common entrance hall. The first building, with 3 levels, each of 2.400 m², was constructed without the need for interior columns. It is clad with lightweight pumice concrete and Alucobond panels plus a built-up roof. The two-storey annex, which has a purlin-free Spacetec roof, incorporates a training centre, consisting of three seminar rooms and a canteen with a fully equipped kitchen. In his inauguration speech, Günter Schrank, Managing Director Parker Hannifin GmbH, said: «The project is sumptuous, but not overdone. It is open, but not "bare", simple and technical, but not technically simple». Architect Thorissen was highly pleased with the concept and the execution: «In only 10 months, this project was completed, including the interior. This speed of construction was made possible thanks largely to ASTRON’s accurately pre-fabricated structures, and the fact that the company respected the agreed shipping deadlines. The excellent collaboration with ASTRON permitted us to meet all the deadlines». Following this, their first and highly successful ASTRON project, we wish Rostek & Pesch GmbH & Co. KG even more successes in the future! |
